2nd Kenya Urban Forum Conference

The Environment Institute of Kenya, represented by our Chairman Mr. Alex Mugambi, proudly participated in the 2nd Kenya Urban Forum Conference held from 17th to 19th June 2025 at Lake Naivasha Resort, Nakuru County. Themed “The Future of Urban: Driving Kenya’s Vision for Urban Transformation,” the forum convened key actors in urban development, including national and county government leaders, development partners, academia, and civil society. Mr. Mugambi actively contributed as a discussant in two sessions. In the Expert Dialogue on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), he emphasized the importance of integrating green infrastructure to address climate risks in urban areas and joined the launch of the Kenya NbS Compendium by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA). In the Parallel Session on “The Role of Urban Areas in Economic Development,” he stressed the link between environmental sustainability and economic prosperity, calling for inclusive, climate-smart urban strategies. As Kenya’s urbanization accelerates, EIK continues to champion nature-based, resilient, and inclusive solutions that align environmental stewardship with national development priorities. Together, let us shape a future where cities are green, equitable, and climate-resilient.
